What is CrossFit? (courtesy of CrossFit)

CrossFit is the principal strength, conditioning and fitness training program followed my many police academies, tactical operations teams, military special operation units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of elite and professional athletes worldwide.

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning training program focused on functionality, intensity, and variety.  Constantly varied, functional movements are performed with intensity.  The program is based on professional guidance and research by renowned national and international exercise physiologists, Olympic coaches and athletic trainers in all modalities of focus in CrossFit.

A variety of training modalities and stimulus are incorporated in order to not only improve fitness levels but also impact: overall health, day to day functionality and preparedness, and athletic performance.  The CrossFit method is designed to be scalable and applicable for any individual regardless of experience.  For each individual the load and the intensity are adjusted yet the programs are not changed.  The needs of the elite athlete, the weekend warrior, and the aged differ by degree, not kind.

Addional information about Theresa:

Personally I have been an competitive athlete since high school.  Starting out with track & field and adding cross country while in college.  Afterwards I continued running road races from 5k through the marathon; most often finishing respectfully within age group categories and qualifying for the Boston marathon. I also was competitive in the USCF cycling in Road Races, Criterium and Veledrome events.  Combining running and cycling experiences lead me to biathlons and triathlons.  These were primarily shorter courses however I did complete three 1/2 Ironman distances.

I like to consider myself a "Jack of all trades and a master of them all," I'm just not an 'elite' athlete.  I also stumbled into adult soccer leagues and fell in love with the sport.  I currently coach our son's recreational soccer team.  Additionally I have experience in competitive rowing.

Professionally I have taught a wide variety of group fitness class formats.  I have certifications in ACSM Fitness Instructor, STOTT Pilates - Reformer, YogaFit - levels I & II, & Spinning.  I currently am an Instructor Trainer for the YMCA of the USA.
